What is hypnosis / hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a state of deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation, being a safe, natural alternative to drugs, needles or surgery. It is in this receptive state that lasting therapeutic benefits and profound healing can occur.

How does this happen?

•  shifting our perception of past events and seeing them in a new light – often enabling deep healing and freedom from emotional impact these events have imprinted on us
• creating new positive, productive patterns as you move away from old unwanted beliefs and habits , for instance, correcting destructive and negative thought patterns which can give rise to ‘comfort eating’
•  Imagineering to set and attain your goals for career, health and wellbeing, and relationships
•  Understanding and resolving the origins or anxiety, phobias, depression or compulsions/addictions (eg chocolate);

What’s it like to be hypnotised?

Most people describe the experience as a bit like taking a nap on the couch whilst listening to the TV in the background.  Some times you’re listening and some times you’re in a deep, meditative, almost sleep state.

Do I need to give up control to be hypnotised?

No.  You’re always in control.  You’re only going to take on the suggestions you want to take on consciously.

How many sessions do I need?

It really depends on the issue you would like to treat.  Please call Karen to offer some background in order for her to provide more session number guidance.
